Christmas Day, 2011, a familiar truck rolled into Tamarack Park's long, winding drive. This was the same truck that, a few years ago, came to Tamarack Park carrying a uniquely-colored Gypsy stallion for a photoshoot among the Blue Ridge mountains and left carrying him and the Saddlebred mare he "accidentally" impregnated. The mare, Sultan's Silver Doll, was returned to Tamarack Park after she'd dropped what was described as "a lovely little filly with her mama's brain and her papa's coat." The owners of Tamarack Park were paid well for the mistake and were only disappointed that they were not financially equipped to handle a pregnant mare and, later, that mare and her foal. Every few months they received photographs of the filly, and every year they wondered whether or not they could afford to take on another horse at their small, mostly-private facility. Over the summer, Tamarack Park showed as much as they could and were rewarded when one of their best showhorses was sold for a hefty sum. They planned to invest the money anyways, but on what was the question which brewed for months on end. The filly's owners heard of Tamarack Park's windfall and knew just what to do. They packed up the young mare who nobody ever intended to have and shipped her off just in time for Christmas. She recognized her dam the moment she stepped off the trailer and into the stables, and seemed no worse for wear despite her long journey. Best Christmas present ever? Of course!
